Who

are we?

The Lighthouse Project is an established Christian Charity in association with Scripture Union. The charity exists to serve the schools of Crawley whilst sharing the Christian faith and values.

The work of The Lighthouse Project originally started 20 years ago and works in partnership with local churches. The charity currently works in 20 schools across Crawley and is made up of paid staff and volunteers.

Staff

Lizzie Ashley (Project Leader)

Lizzie has been the Project Leader for The Lighthouse Project since September 2016. She is recently married and has worked with young people for the past 11 years. Her previous experience includes church youth work and roles within the school environment.

Liz Burston (Primary Schools Worker)

Liz has been a Primary Schools Worker for The Lighthouse Project since February 2016. She is married and has 3 daughters. Liz has been involved in children’s work, either voluntarily or in a paid position, for all of her working life.

Claire Clarke (Primary Schools Worker)

Claire is our new Primary Schools Worker with The Lighthouse Project, joining us in September 2017. She is responsible for managing our primary lunch club programme and she is also involved in presenting assemblies.  Claire lives in Crawley with her husband and 2 sons.  She has been volunteering with the charity since 2016 and has experience of church families work and has sung in church choirs all her life.  Singing and doing the actions to the song "My Lighthouse" with the children in schools is one of her favourite things to do!

What

do we do?

The Lighthouse Project works in partnership with local churches to support schools by promoting spiritual, moral and cultural development. We do this is a variety of ways, including:
  • Collective Worship which has a Christian character
  • Lunch clubs
  • Prayer Spaces
  • It’s Your Move (year 6 transition programme)
  • Reading support
  • Easter and Christmas Explored
  • Relationship and Sex Education
